“Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland: Dual Language Edition (Side by Side Classic Translations Series)” by Lewis Carroll, translated by John Loehr, is a great book for the lovers of this timeless story! Over the past few years, I have tried to expand my knowledge of the Spanish language. This book makes learning and enforcing the vocabulary and grammatical structure of the language fun. Also, because I am so familiar with Alice In Wonderland, I found it much more approachable and enjoyable to do so by reading this book. I am definitely going to recommend it to my kids who are also learning Spanish as a second language. The side-by-side translations helps keep you focused and helps with the visualization of the sentence structure and syntax. I found that I kept reading and was less discouraged to stop in relation to just reading a Spanish text with no English to guide me. I think this book could help many Spanish learners. I also think this is great to read to your kids and expose them to another language. Great book!

Between the amazing translations and the absolutely adorable illustrations, this book was a treat to read. I’m a lover of the classic and legendary story that is Alice and all of her adventures in Wonderland, so this book was especially fun to read. With its side-by-side translations, this book was especially fun to read as a person who’s wanting to learn Spanish; this is a great one to practice the language with. I really liked the formatting of this book and that the English and Spanish versions of the book were side-by-side, meaning I could look at one language side and understand what the words translated to, based on the other language side. As I’m still very new to learning Spanish, I really appreciated the way this book took a classic and made learning the Spanish vocabulary fun. I think this book would be an amazing gift to any English-speaking person trying to learn Spanish or a Spanish-speaker trying to learn English; it’s a wonderful story with beautiful illustrations and great translations!

Now THIS guy knows how to do a side-by-side translation. I got four of this authors books and am very much enjoying them all. The text lines up nicely, and every time the spanish and english drift too far from one another on the page there is a gap to sync them back up. This is absolutely necessary for a side-by-side language book.

As for learning, I am a B2 level and can’t go two sentences without learning something new lol it is awesome. Very very well made books.

Just know that the author learned “spain spanish”, not latin american, but it won’t be a problem. There are not TOO many spain-only references. A few ‘vosotros’ here and there but yeah, I actually prefer learning all the forms of spanish side by side, so no worries for me. Just a heads up to people so you aren’t caught off guard.

    Awesome books, highly recommend.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is such a classic yet its wording is uncomplicated so it’s a perfect choice for translation. There’s lots of different kinds of creatures and people so I think that it would help one to memorize those types of words. However I disagree that this is a way to learn spanish as an english speaker who has virtually no prior knowledge on the spanish language. This would certainly be better suited for someone who is trying to increase their fluency rather than a total beginner. I would recommend highlighting words that you recognize that match up as you read so you can see how the texts align as some translations are longer than the english ones.

Personally I really liked this book. I thought it was mostly going to be in Spanish which would have been very hard to understand. Instead the English version of the page and the Spanish version of the page are side by side. It’s easy to read the left side of the book and then transfer into reading the Spanish right side of the book. This is the perfect book to help you learn Spanish because it’s a classic book everyone will like, and it’s interesting as well. I will be buying more of this authors books.
